Ikhala TVET College Nsfas is a financial aid scheme funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training to support students who do not have the financial means to fund their studies and cannot access bank funding, study loans or bursaries. Students who have successfully gained admission into the Ikhala Tvet College for the 2025 academic year should start applying for Nsfas bursaries from September 2024 to the 15th of December 2025.

Ikhala Public TVET College (Ikhala College) was formed on 1 April 2002 through the merging of some previous Technical Colleges. Currently, Ikhala College is serving the communities of the Northern Region of the Eastern Cape with campuses at: • Aliwal North • Ezibeleni • Queen Nonesi (Lady Frere) • Queenstown • Sterkspruit. Ikhala TVET College Queenstown Campus is situated in the beautiful town of Komani (formally known as Queenstown) in the Eastern Cape. This town is known for the hexagon in the centre of town and for its beautiful indigenous aloe plants and surrounding mountains. Further, this town is also surrounded by many game farms with the Longhill Nature Reserve on the outskirts of town. Our students are coming from all over the Eastern Cape and we have a student population of around 1400.
Who Is Eligible To Apply For Nsfas At Ikhala Tvet College
The following are people who are eligible to apply for NSFAS;
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

How to register for Ikhala TVET College NSFAS Application 2025-2026
- Step 1: Check if you meet the NSFAS eligibility criteria.
To be qualified for the NSFAS, you must be a South African citizen or permanent resident, you must have a combined household income of less than R350 000 per annum, and be registered or intending to register for a full-time NATED or NC(V) programme at Ikhala TVET College.
- Step 2: Create an account on the NSFAS portal
Once the college has accepted all your criteria, you need to create an account on the NSFAS portal. Visit the official NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za and click on “myNSFAS account” to register.
- Step 3: Complete your application form
Once you have created your account, log in to the NSFAS portal and complete your application form. The student must make sure that they provide accurate and complete information to avoid any rejection of their application.
- Step 4: Submit your application
After completing your application form, submit it online by clicking the “submit” button. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been successfully submitted.
- Step 5: Check your application status
The student can check their application status by logging in to their NSFAS portal account. Once your application has been processed, you will be notified of the outcome through email or SMS.
