As we look ahead to 2026, many students and adult learners are asking: How much does it cost to rewrite matric?

The answer depends on a few key factors, such as the type of rewrite you choose (e.g., NSC rewrite, Amended Senior Certificate, or upgrading through a college), the number of subjects you are rewriting, and whether you are going through the Department of Basic Education or a private institution. • Obtain at least 40% in three (3) subjects, one of which must be a Home Language
• 30% in three (3) other subjects, one of which must be an official language at First Additional Language (Home Language if a person decides to do 2 HLs)
• Can fail at most 1 subject
