  • Final School leaving results when applying with international credentials or currently in Grade 12 (Final Grade 11 results)
  • Valid Passport or Identity Document or Birth Certificate
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
    Provide proof of English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching (the University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programmes) Alternatively, you may elect to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP). Should you choose to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP), you are required to obtain an overall score of 6.   • In case both first and second choices are unsuccessful, the International Admissions office will offer an international applicant an alternative choice option when meeting the requirements

Degree seeking students

In order to study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies. The following supporting documents must be submitted to the Matriculation Board at the address provided below;

  • Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
  • Correctly certified copies of the applicant’s educational qualifications certified by a South African High Commission,
  • Consulate, Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
  • A correctly certified copy of your passport or birth certificate certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate,
  • Trade Mission or a Public Notary in your home country
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
  • Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board (see website https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
  • Submit proof of payment for the Exemption fee of R700 payable to the banking details below
