Buffalo City TVET College was established in 2002, as a result of the merger of three colleges situated in the Greater East London area i.e. East London College and its St Marks Campus, Border Technical College and John Knox Bokwe Careers College in Mdantsane. Soon after the merger, the Council closed the Border Technical College premises and absorbed its Business Studies programmes into East London Campus and its Engineering Division into St Marks Campus. John Knox Bokwe Campus continued to offer both Business and Engineering Studies Report 191 programmes.

Who cannot appeal?

Students are not permitted to appeal for NSFAS if they:

  • Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund;
  • They have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of students with disabilities).
  • The student is a gap year student who NSFAS previously denied financial aid to because s/he did not meet the academic eligibility criteria.
  • If the institution has not submitted its registration record to NSFAS or has submitted an incorrect registration record such enquiries should be directed to the institution.

How To Apply for Buffalo City TVET College

  • Applicants can also visit the school to book an online application session.
  • Applicants can apply for NSFAS Funding through or can search for other available bursaries.
  • You can use either your smartphone, tablet or computer to apply online via the student i-Enabler, using your PIN and student number to log on
  • Applicants should apply for admission to the current  and the next level of your application
  • Make sure you upload all the required documents and pay the necessary fees.

Who can appeal?

A student whose application for financial aid is rejected or the financial aid for a continuing student is withdrawn, may lodge an appeal with the NSFAS;

  • The appeal decisions are subject to budget availability.
  • Appeals will only be considered for students who have applied to NSFAS for Financial Aid.

How to apply for Buffalo City TVET College NSFAS Application 2024-2025

To apply for the NSFAS at Buffalo City TVET College, follow the following steps:

  • Step 1: Check if the applicant meets the NSFAS eligibility criteria.

To be eligible or qualify for the NSFAS, you must be a South African citizen or permanent resident, have a combined household income of less than R350 000 per annum, and be registered or intending to register for a full-time NATED or National Certificate (Vocational) programme at Buffalo City TVET College.

  • Step 2: Create an account on the NSFAS portal

You can check your application status by logging in to your NSFAS portal account. Once your application has been processed, you will be notified of the outcome via email or SMS.
