This college is a merger of the former Durban Technical College, Swinton Road Technical College and Umlazi Technical College. It includes former Umbumbulu and Appelsbosch Colleges of Education. It is the largest College in KwaZulu-Natal, currently averaging about 15 000 full time equivalents and about 800 staff members. The College is well known for catering for adult learners, unemployed and employed by local industry, out of school youth, project linked trainees ranging from learners with a low academic background to those who have had opportunities to enhance their educational level. Our mission is to provide quality pioneering education and training for the upliftment of the broader community, by offering diverse programmes, providing an effective student support system and optimally utilizing relevant resources.
That is why Coastal TVET Collegeis now open to all applicants who were successful with their application procedure for the 2024-2025 academic year and interest applicant or student can apply.

- Acquire your application form at the school’s Campus or the website. Make sure you apply within the application cycle to avoid your application being rejected by the college
- Fill in the form with all necessary documentation like (Latest Academic Results), Certified copy of guardian or parent ID, Proof of residence, and Student certified ID.
- Remember you will need an email address when filling the form, It is, therefore, advisable to create an email. Also, remember to provide a valid cell Phone number when filling out the forms because the school will text you if you are given admission.
- A full application submitted entirely must include the certified copy of your ID and a certified copy of your latest school results as stated above.
Registration Process For Returning Students
- All returning students should collect their examination results at their campuses in January.
- All qualifying students undergo NSFAS application process.
- All students who meet the progression criteria will register in their respective levels.

Admission requirement for Coastal TVET College Online Application form 2024-2025
- Applicant who endeavor to enroll for National Certificate Vocational Level 2 Business and General Studies programs must have completed and passed Grade 10-11; and Grade 12 with Mathematics for the Information & Technology as well as Finance,Economics & Accounting programs.
- Students who endeavor to enroll to National Certificate Vocational Level 2- all Engineering Studies must have completed and passed a minimum of Grade 10-11Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy).
- Students who endeavor to enroll for National Certificate Vocational Level 2 Electrical Construction – may, on applying for employment, be required to pass a Colour competency test.
- Students who endeavor to enroll for Report 191 Business Studies – N4-NS must have passed either NCV Level 4 (21 subjects – from L2-L4); or have obtained a National Senior Certificate (Matric). Previous subject studies and direction will influence course enrolment.
