Those who are prepared to apply to Coastal TVET College Online for the year 2025-2026 academic year should start in September 2024.
This college is a merger of the former Durban Technical College, Swinton Road Technical College and Umlazi Technical College. It includes former Umbumbulu and Appelsbosch Colleges of Education. It is the largest College in KwaZulu-Natal, currently averaging about 15,000 full-time equivalents and about 800 staff members. The coastal KZN TVET College catchment area is from Ozwathini to the South of Durban and continues for a strip of about 80km towards the South Coast. It includes Maphumulo, Stanger, Ndwedwe, the Bluff area, Chatsworth, Lamontville, Umlazi, KwaMakhutha, Isipingo, Amanzimtoti, Illovo right down to Scottburgh, but due to the residence facilities we have students from all over the country. The Central Administration Office of the College is at KwaMakhutha, which is a semi-rural setting. This College is well known for catering to adult learners, unemployed and employed by local industry, out-of-school youth, project linked trainees ranging from learners with a low academic background to those who have had opportunities to enhance their educational level.
Application procedure for Coastal TVET College(Which courses are in Coastal College?)
- The first phase is the registration forms;
South Africans must use their South Africa ID numbers.
International students must use the ID number of their country and not the passport number.
- Phase 2 of the application process:
You will provide your highest qualification
Select the course you want to enrol on.
Upload your documents (ID document/passport, qualifications, proof of address, ID document of next of kin, study permit and letter from employer that is a Heidelberg part-time student)
- Phase 3 of the application;
You only need to use this phase if you did not comply with the instruction of uploading certified and readable documents. When the verifier rejects your application

Admission Requirement for New Students in Coastal TVET College
**Admission criteria for new applicants for Nated (report 191) courses
- An applicant who endeavour to enrol for report 191 business studies must pass either NCV level 4 or have obtained a national senior certificate (matric).
- Students who endeavour to enrol for Report 191 engineering studies must have passed at least grade 10 to grade 12 mathematics.
- Please note that electrical engineering students may on applying for employment be required to pass a colour competency test.
**Admission criteria for new applicants for National Certificate Vocational (NCV)
- Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV level 2 business and general studies programs must have completed and passed grades 10-11 and grade 12 with mathematics.
- The applicant who endeavours to enrol for NCV level 2 all engineering studies must have completed and passed a minimum of grade 10-11 mathematics.
- Students who endeavour to enrol for NCV level 2 electrical construction may on applying for employment be required to pass a colour competency test.

Minimum admission requirements N4-N6: NC(V) level 4 (Business and Utility Studies) /Passed Matric/Grade 12/NC(V) Level 4 PLUS Specific requirements per programmes
- Engineering Studies N1-N6
Minimum admission requirements N1-N3: Passed Matric/Grade 12/NC(V) Level 4 Plus Specific requirements per programmes
- Business Studies NQF Levels 2-4
Minimum admission requirements: Grade 9 or Higher pass/NQF level 1/AET level 4 – Specific selection criteria of the College.NC(V) level 2 for level 3 and NC(V) level 3 for level 4
- Engineering Studies NQF Levels 2-4
