How do I apply for TVET college in Port Elizabeth?

Port Elizabeth TVET College is an institution for tomorrow with a rich illustrious past. We focus on developing people today to enable them to face the challenges of tomorrow by equipping them with relevant practical skills to enable them to attain their dreams and aspirations. This underpins our vision of being the preferred provider of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programmes, which complement the human resource and skills development needs of a competitive, developing nation. Applications are open to all interested applicants irrespective of their age, tribe, religion, race, colour, nationality as well as ethnicity. All students who meet the set requirements can apply for admission into the college.

Admission requirement for Port Elizabeth TVET College

  • Mathematics is compulsory.
  • A student with a grade of 12(passed or failed) or equivalent is the preferred applicant.
  • Applicants who passed grades 9, 10 and 11 may be considered subject to the results of the competency test.
  • The student who doesn’t pass the competency test will be referred to an extended programme.

Reason for transfer to Port Elizabeth TVET College

  • Must have a letter to confirm that they have been de-registered at the previous institution.
  • A certified copy of the ID
  • A report of their academic history on the college letterhead, including internal continuous assessment (ICASS) and integrated summative assessment (ISAT) results.
  • A certificate of good conduct from their previous institution of learning.

Certification Requirements at Port Elizabeth TVET College

For a student to be certificated, at Levels 2, 3 and 4, he or she must have obtained at least:

  • 40% – English First Additional Language
  • 30% in Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics
  • 40% in Life Orientation
  • 50% in each of the four vocational subjects

Entry examination for Port Elizabeth TVET College Online Application forms 2024-2025

  • National Certificate (Vocational) candidates must meet the following sub-minimums per subject for admission into the college:
  • Vocational subjects: 45-49%
  • Life Orientation and English First Additional Language: 35-39%
  • Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy: 25-29%
